My reading life

Reading Is not the thing is the first thing I think of when I am bored honestly I think it is quite boring, well everything but manga, manga for me is very thrilling and exciting I really like how different plots can be and the amount of variety within manga. The differing art styles continually impress me. i would probably fit into the most Australians aged 14 and over read very little and is a part of why reading is declining. However, I am starting to read more books, thanks to the help of my English teacher and the the wider reading program he has set up for us.
I feel like there are times that I am craving a book and sometimes when I look at a book and just feel like ‘meh’. I feel like I haven’t read as many books as I would have liked to so far, however, my reading habits have changed for sure. Before year 7 I never touched a book and the only time I did read one was for a book response in the hobbit. Now I am starting to read more genres of books let alone. I feel like personal growth and determination books are really intriguing and inspiring, and I feel like I can gain so much from reading them.
I do agree that reading is important, and it is because it can increase literacy and just in general create a more creative personality. It is an original way to learn and gain knowledge and still works efficiently.
Responding to Dylan Thomas’s poem,
it is very relatable, and I feel the same sensations when I am reading fantasy and the amount of descriptive language resembles a book, of a sort. each sentence painted a picture in my head. Its first sentence really describes books greatly. “I could never have dreamt that there were such goings-on in the world between the covers of books.” the poem is calming and very slow paced. It conveys a very powerful message aswell. It shows the how books can create wonderlands and paridises with just a sentence and how books aer so different. I could relate books to food, so many different options to choose from, some you may like and others you may not.
To be honest I have only been reading manga, but I started one book called The Talent Code, it is very interesting, and I am thinking about starting more books like it. It talks about personal growth and determination to become better. I have completed 4 of the 30 reading tasks
- A book recommended to you by another student in the class = Harry Potter and the philosopher stone.
- A book published in 2020 = downfall by Inio Asano
- A book about or involving a sport = Kuroko’s basketball.
- A book written by or with a protagonist who identifies as LGBTQI = Given manga
The books I would take to if I was on a deserted island would be
- Ouran High School Host Club box set.
I don’t know if it classifies as more than one book or not but if not I would take the last volume. It was very controversial, and it had an amazing storyline. Definitely my favourite romance manga.
2. Harry Potter deathly hallows.
Very self-explanatory. It was my favourite book growing up and the only Harry Potter book I have actually read.
3. The Last Unicorn
actually my parents read it and have recommended it to me. I was actually planning on reading it very soon.
4. Micheal Jordan The Life.
I love basketball and I really loved this book as well. The emotions that this book makes you feel is next level.

both of these books are by Agatha Christie and I love her writing and how she makes you think about “who actually did it.” I was planing on reading these as well.
7. The Autobiography Of Martin Luther King, Jr.
My mum is reading this currently, she was enjoying this, so !am intrigued about it.
